So remember when I put you on to that wix.com seminar at the Wix Lounge? Well I attended the event tonight with my friend, Jessica, who is a fellow blogger. I didn't know what to expect, so I came prepared with a notebook, pen, bottle of water, and some nuts and raisins as a snack. Turns out that this vegan restaurant I follow on Instagram, Blossom du Jour, is on the same block. I stopped in and bought some chocolate banana bread [which was to DIE for by the way] as a backup snack because I lack self control. In any event, I took the elevator up and was in shock when the doors opened. A FULL food spread. Mostly things I could eat, and DELICIOUS by the way. I was stuffed before my friend even got there. She was on some diet so she couldn't eat a morsel other than the salad, but I ate enough for 2 [or 3]. There were two presenters who went over basic concepts on creating a solid, user-friendly website. One bit of information that was reiterated for me was how important every detail is when it comes to branding and web development. We also discussed creating a Pinterest board to visualize concepts and ideas in order to piece together what you want for yourself. I really haven't dived into the Pinterest world just yet, but I will now after realizing how helpful it can be. The community manager for Wix who moderated the event was very professional, well-spoken and knowledgable. I didn't know that as a Wix member, you also get a free 4-month membership to utilize their co-working space! I only have the free version still, so I'm not sure if I am eligible, but it's still a great offer. They host free or low-cost events weekly, and I will certainly be present and accounted for in the future. I am currently in the process of re-doing Steeve's music website with Square Space, and I can say without hesitation that Wix is 1,000% more user friendly than any other site I've come across. The only reason I am sticking with that site for his page is because I am too in love with the template and how it turned out, but I can't even figure out how to add the social media icons to the footer! In any event, if you are like me and just barely tech-savvy, Wix is the best site to use and they are a well-run company. This is certainly not a paid endorsement...just keeping it 100 with you all. When I love a brand, I LOVE to endorse them on my social media and to tell my friends. Good businesses deserve to stay in business, and any company that hosts a free event with FREE FOOD is my kind of company! I will keep you posted on anything else I come across worth mention. Check out their events calendar via clicking here. I hope this post helped you, or someone you know, in some way. Cheers!
