So today I had the longest day EVER, all before 1pm. The stress of the morning involved my parents and some pesky birds that were trapped in our vent. We got the birdies out and safe, but after several hours of battling, I needed some serious ME time. Unfortunately, by ME time, I meant my solo trip to SOHO to bring my laptop to the Apple store for a diagnostics test. I spent about an hour and a half on this rainy Friday waiting to talk to someone, only to speak to them for about 11 minutes total. I also got hit on by a 16 year old in the process. I'm glad this #blackdontcrack theory is seemingly true since I just turned 28 and am closer to 30 than the SAT exam. After all of these debacles, I had successfully convinced myself that I earned a lovely vegan cupcake. I did a terrible Google search and found a place by the name of Georgetown Cupcake merely walking distance on Mercer Street. I say terrible because once I actually walked into the store, I discovered there was literally only ONE vegan cupcake option, but tons of gorgeous cupcakes filled with butter and eggs, all things I refuse to eat! So I bought myself the vegan apple cinnamon cupcake and a soy milk hot chocolate. I generally don't consume soy products if I can avoid it, but as I just mentioned, veganism was not really the focus at this place, so I settled. As it turns out, the hot chocolate was an excellent pairing with this cupcake, although next time I will try it with a cafe au lait. The cupcake was so moist and flavorful....but the FROSTING!? I am not a huge frosting fan. I usually scrape off 80% of it. However, they somehow were able to mimic a cream cheese taste, and it went so well with the apple cinnamon flavor. I will be back just for my one cupcake option whenever I am in the area to ask Apple a silly tech question. If you are in the area, check it out PLEASE. Totally worth it.
Peace, Kings & Queens
